About the Inn

A history - Then & now...

The Inn started out as a small farm in the early 1800's it property covered most of the Community Centre directly south of the restaurant. In 1853 the building was expanded and a general store opened to provide services to the thriving area.
The General store was active for almost 120 years before closing the doors in the late 1970's, where the property was used only as a residence.

In 1984 Carol and Michael Hall purchased the property after touring around the world with their two children. They loved the area and the potential in the property, even reopening the store for 3 years before realizing that a restaurant might be the perfect little business in the quaint hamlet.

In 1987 "The Mono Centre General Store" changed to "The Mono Cliffs Inn" and since then people have been finding their way to Mono Centre to dine in a relaxed, country atmosphere. Situated in one of the most scenic stretches of the Bruce Trail, next to the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park the Inn has become a mecca for lovers of food and Australian Wines. Inn keeper Carol Hall is always glad to see old friends and welcome new diners to the dining room, pub or beautiful Magnolia Deck

This is Horse Country...

Did you know that the TO2015 Pan AM Games equestrian competitions took place in nearby Caledon at the Caledon Equestrian Park and at our neighbour's, Will O' Wind Farms for the Cross Country competition. This area has long been known to locals and visitors as Horse Country and now it is official; Mono is part of Headwaters Horse Country. We are proud of our equine reputation and are happy to accommodate their human counterparts anytime they wish to visit.
